A to Z Home Maintenance adheres to a process for replacing roofs that has proven to be efficient, successful, and enduring.  Careful preparation ensures that you, the homeowner, are satisfied with not only the completed job itself, but also the manner in which it progresses.  Prior to work beginning, the ground around the house is tarped to ensure that debris is contained and that none will be left behind.  A dumpster is provided at each job site for the removal of old materials and garbage.  All existing roofing material is stripped from the roof down to the plywood decking.  Any soft or deteriorated plywood is replaced.  Ice and water shield is installed on all lower eaves and all valleys, as well as around all skylights.  New felt paper and aluminum drip edge are installed.  We utilize thirty year architectural shingles and all materials utilized in your new roof are of the highest standard.  


Leaky Roofs

Roof repairs are often made after damage has occurred.  However, if you are attentive and keep up on regular roof maintenance, you can avoid preventable damage altogether.  

A leaky roof is one of the most common problems homeowners must face.  A variety of problems, including mold and mildew infestation and damage to the home's foundation, can result from a leaky roof.

There are number of places on the roof more prone to leaks.  These include fields of shingles, valleys or low spots on the roof, skylights, chimneys, plumbing vent flashings, wall step flashings, ice dams, and places with missing shingles.  

A wet spot on the ceiling is often the first sign of a roof leak.  In this case, the source of the leak might be located by tracing it back to its source on the roof.  Be aware, however, that the source of the leak could be a considerable distance away from where it is dripping into the home.  A trained professional can determine the source of the leak and the most effective way to correct it and prevent additional damage.  Our roofing crews are available for emergency and quick response reparation work to intercede and prevent further damage to your home in the event of a leak or other damage.  

Its to your benefit to have your roof inspected from time to time even when it is not leaking.  This can help you to avoid leaks and prevent damage from occurring in the first place.  Have the roof inspected after a heavy snow or rain,  and after serious weather occurrences like tornados or hail.  Even something simple like a clogged downspout or gutter can cause a leak in your roof , so its important to have your gutters cleaned as part of our spring and fall cleanup packages to keep the roof looking and working like new.
